Footnote Education was founded with a very simple mission: to help students achieve success while also helping them to see education as something more than a means to an end.
Josh Lynbeck
Co-Founder & Tutor
Josh has extensive experience in education and academia, and is always eager to share his own love of any and all things relating to history, politics, literature and the wider humanities.
He took his undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in History at Balliol College, Oxford, before qualifying as a barrister at the Honourable Society of the Inner Temple in London. He was then drawn to teaching, and has since taught at some of the UK’s leading independent schools. He also has a wealth of experience as a private tutor, and specialises in preparing students for entrance to Oxford, Cambridge, and other leading universities.
As a teacher, Josh’s priority is always to help his students discover and pursue their intellectual passions, and to develop a love of learning for its own sake as much as for success in exams.
He strongly believes that the humanities and a rigorous liberal education are the best preparation for any student who wishes to succeed academically and thrive in an increasingly complex and competitive world.
