These Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) govern the use of the website, services, digital products, educational content, and online platforms operated by Footnote Education (“we”, “us”, “our”).

By accessing our website, purchasing products, enrolling in tuition or courses, or otherwise using our services, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, you must not use our services.

1. Definitions

In these Terms:

  • “Student” means the individual receiving tuition, course instruction, or educational services. 

  • “Parent” means a parent or legal guardian of a Student under the age of 18. 

  • “Services” means all services provided by us, including tuition, educational courses, digital content, educational materials, and blog content. 

  • “Website” means www.footnoteeducation.co.uk. 

  • “Content” means all written, visual, audio, video, downloadable, and interactive materials published by us. 

  • “Digital Products” means downloadable or online educational resources sold via the Website. 

  • “Tutor” means any teacher, contractor, lecturer, mentor, or educational professional engaged by us. 

2. Eligibility

2.1 Students under the age of 18 must use the Services with the consent and supervision of a Parent or legal guardian.

2.2 Parents entering into contracts on behalf of minors confirm that they have the legal authority to do so.

2.3 We reserve the right to refuse access to our Services at our discretion where reasonably necessary.

3. About Our Services

We provide:

  • 1:1 online private tuition; 

  • online educational enrichment courses; 

  • downloadable and physical educational materials; 

  • educational blog and media content; 

  • related academic support services. 

All Services are provided remotely unless otherwise stated.

4. Educational Disclaimer

4.1 We provide educational support and enrichment only.

4.2 We do not guarantee:

  • examination results; 

  • academic grades; 

  • admission to schools or universities; 

  • specific educational outcomes. 

4.3 Educational progress depends on multiple factors outside our control, including student engagement, attendance, prior knowledge, learning needs, and external circumstances.

5. Tuition Services

5.1 Booking and Payment

a. Tuition sessions must be booked in advance.

b. Fees must be paid:

  • upon receipt of an invoice, or

  • in accordance with any agreed payment plan. 

c. We reserve the right to suspend sessions for non-payment.

5.2 Cancellation by Students or Parents

a. A minimum of 24 hours’ notice is required to cancel or reschedule a session.

b. Sessions cancelled with insufficient notice may be charged in full.

c. Failure to attend a scheduled session without notice may result in full charges applying.

5.3 Cancellation by Us

We may reschedule or cancel sessions due to illness, technical issues, safeguarding concerns, or circumstances beyond our reasonable control. Where possible, alternative arrangements will be offered.

5.4 Session Conduct

Students must:

  • behave respectfully; 

  • not engage in abusive, discriminatory, threatening, or disruptive behaviour; 

  • not record sessions without express permission. 

We reserve the right to terminate sessions where behaviour is inappropriate.

6. Online Courses

6.1 Course access is personal and non-transferable.

6.2 Access periods, where applicable, will be specified at purchase.

6.3 We may update course materials periodically.

6.4 Live sessions may be recorded for quality, safeguarding, or educational purposes.

6.5 Students must not:

  • share login credentials; 

  • redistribute course materials; 

  • reproduce or commercially exploit course content. 

7. Educational Materials and Online Shop

7.1 Product Descriptions

We take reasonable care to ensure that product descriptions are accurate. However, images and descriptions are illustrative only.

7.2 Digital Products

a. Digital Products are licensed, not sold.

b. Upon purchase, we grant a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence for personal educational use only.

c. Digital Products must not be copied, resold, shared, or distributed without written permission.

7.3 Physical Products

Where physical products are sold:

  • delivery estimates are approximate only; 

  • risk passes upon delivery; 

  • ownership transfers upon full payment. 

7.4 Consumer Cancellation Rights

Consumers in the UK and EU may have cancellation rights under applicable consumer protection laws.

For digital content:

  • by downloading or accessing Digital Products immediately after purchase, you expressly acknowledge that your statutory cancellation rights may end once supply begins. 

Nothing in these Terms limits statutory consumer rights.

8. Blog and Educational Content

8.1 Our blog and educational content are provided for general informational, entertainment, and educational purposes only.

8.2 Content does not constitute professional legal, psychological, medical, or safeguarding advice.

8.3 We make reasonable efforts to ensure accuracy but do not warrant that content is complete, current, or error-free.

9. User Accounts

9.1 Users may be required to create an account.

9.2 Users are responsible for:

  • no online environment can be guaranteed entirely secure. 

10.3 Sessions may be monitored or recorded where reasonably necessary for safeguarding, training, or quality assurance purposes.

10.4 Users must not:

  • use Services for unlawful purposes; 

  • share inappropriate material; 

  • engage in harmful or exploitative conduct. 

10.5 Safeguarding concerns may be reported to relevant authorities where legally required.

17.3 Our total aggregate liability arising from the Services shall not exceed the total amount paid by the user in the preceding 12 months.

19. Force Majeure

We shall not be liable for delay or failure caused by circumstances beyond our reasonable control, including:

20. Termination

20.1 We may suspend or terminate access immediately where:
